White Sox update

The White Sox won last night's series finale against the New York Yankees and have a 2 1/2 -game lead in the American League Central. The White Sox had lost four of their previous six games, including two straight to the Yankees. They split a two-game series with the Orioles last week at Camden Yards. Young left-hander John Danks, who starts tomorrow, has thrown 14 2/3 consecutive scoreless innings and held opponents to a .202 average. Designated hitter Jim Thome is 7-for-14 in his past four games. He has four home runs and 11 RBIs in his past eight games. Before last night, the White Sox had scored 107 runs, fourth most in the AL, despite their league-worst .244 team batting average. Their team ERA was 3.86, third best in the league.
