2 injured in separate shootings in Balto. Co.

Two people were shot late Saturday in Baltimore County, one of them during what police described as a home-invasion robbery.

Shortly before 9 p.m., two men, at least one of them armed with a gun, forced their way into a house in the 900 block of Garden Drive off Marlyn Avenue in the Silver Manor section of Essex by kicking in a door. A man in his 50s was shot in the leg.

It was not known whether any property was taken or whether the invasion victim was deliberately targeted, police said.

Police said the victim was taken by ambulance to Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center. His condition was not available.

The shooting is being investigated by the precinct's violent crimes unit.

In an unrelated incident Saturday night, an unidentified man was shot in the upper torso in the 8000 block of Diamond Point Road in North Point about 10 p.m. and was being treated at Johns Hopkins Bayview.

Details of that shooting and the condition of the victim were not available.

Sgt. Drury Bishop, of the Northern District station, said the man was taken to Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, treated for a leg wound and released.

Bishop said two men seen driving from the scene were being interviewed. He said a motive was not known.
