More requests for extensions are expected this year than in the past. Up to 10.3 million taxpayers are anticipated to ask for filing extensions this year - compared with 10 million during 2007, Dupree said in an e-mail. About 2 million of those requests will be filed electronically, he said.

Marylanders who file a request for a federal extension will get additional time for their state return automatically, Brace said.


When will your economic stimulus payment arrive?

The payment will be issued based on the last two digits of your Social Security number and whether you asked for the payment to be directly deposited in your account or mailed to you.
