More requests for extensions are expected this year than in the past. Up to 10.3 million taxpayers are anticipated to ask for filing extensions this year - compared with 10 million during 2007, Dupree said in an e-mail. About 2 million of those requests will be filed electronically, he said.
Marylanders who file a request for a federal extension will get additional time for their state return automatically, Brace said.
