Katelyn Catanese and Kathleen Rossetti (Perry Hall) each had six points to power Mount St. Mary's past host Saint Francis (Pa.) yesterday, 23-0, for the first shutout in school history.
Catanese scored five goals and had an assist, and Rossetti, who entered the game with four goals this season, had a career-high six goals in the Mountaineers' win over the winless Red Flash (0-8, 0-2 Northeast Conference). Mount St. Mary's (5-5, 2-1) scored eight times in the first 10 minutes and reached the 20-goal mark against Saint Francis for the second straight time.
Breana Waraksa recorded a goal and four assists, and Rebecca Douglass (Towson Catholic) scored once and had three assists for the Mount. Fifteen players had at least one point for the Mount, which outshot the Red Flash 44-2.
Wesley 15, Hood 4 -- Four players scored, but it wasn't nearly enough in the Blazers' loss to the host Wolverines. Jayme Frost, Sarah Balukoff, Brandy Noel and Abby Dyjack scored for Hood (0-10, 0-6 Capital Athletic Conference). Noel and Frost each took advantage of free-position shots. Lauren Perzan recorded her team-leading fifth assist on Dyjack's first career goal and won five draw controls. Lauren Lieb had six saves in the loss.
Goucher 11, Whittier 8 -- Sam Fitzpatrick had seven points, and the Gophers withstood a late flurry to defeat the Poets. Fitzpatrick had team highs of four goals and three assists. Dave Duff had two goals and an assist and Casey Hughes scored twice. Austin Main made 10 saves in the win. The Gophers (6-2) have won their past two games.
