Chrysanthe Kaludis, 92

Dietitian, restaurateur

Chrysanthe Kaludis, a retired dietitian who had owned and operated restaurants with her husband, died of a respiratory ailment Saturday at the William Hill Gardens in Easton. The former Catonsville resident was 92.

Born Chrysanthe "Theresa" Topaltzas in Chios, Greece, she moved to Baltimore in 1930 and married Stefanos George Kaludis on Dec. 26, 1937.

She and her husband ran restaurants in downtown Baltimore and in Towson, including the Towsontown Restaurant on York Road. She later earned a dietetics certificate from Catonsville Community College and headed food service at the Frederick Villa nursing home.

Family members said Mrs. Kaludis was an accomplished cook and baker, and was a devotee of Greek dancing.

Services were held yesterday at the Greek Orthodox Cathedral of the Annunciation, where she was active in the Daughters of Penelope Ladies Philoptochos Society, the Karabournian Society and the Golden Age Club.

Survivors include a son, George Kaludis of Potomac; two daughters, Irene Chanesman of Bozman and Karen Kaludis Filbert of Easton; a sister, Georgia Tangires of Ruxton; seven grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. Her husband died in 1997.
