Linda Ann "Lin" McNicol, a retired grocery store department manager and former nurse's aide, died of brain tumor surgical complications March 13 at Kindred Hospital in Houston. The former Grasonville and Pasadena resident was 62.
Born Linda Ann Soutar in Baltimore and raised in the Orchard Beach section of Anne Arundel County, she attended Glen Burnie High School and received a diploma from Severna Park High School in the mid-1960s.

In the 1970s and 1980s, she was a nurse's aide at Whitehall Nursing Home in Annapolis and at Anne Arundel General Medical Center. She worked as a delicatessen and seafood manager at a Southwest Baltimore Safeway store before retiring several years ago.
She was a member of the United Communities Volunteer Fire Department on Kent Island. She owned a recreational vehicle and belonged to Escapees RV Club. -
A celebration of her life will be held from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. April 6 at the Long Point Improvement Association, 1534 Long Point Road in Pasadena.
Survivors include her husband of 18 years, Stuart D. McNicol; a son, Robert Butler Jr. of Johnson City, Tenn.; two daughters, Beverly Coursey of Stevensville and Kim Herring of Coconut Creek, Fla.; two stepdaughters, Heather McNicol and Melissa McNicol, both of Stevensville; two brothers, Paul Soutar of Wichita, Kan., and David Soutar of Pasadena; a sister, Carol Soutar of Glen Burnie; and six grandchildren. Her marriage of 20 years to Robert E. L. Butler Sr. ended in divorce.
