Muslim Foundation hosts health fair

The Howard County Muslim Foundation will hold its annual Living Well Health Fair from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 19 at the Bain Center, 5470 Ruth Keeton Way, Columbia.

More than 30 physicians will be on hand; free blood tests, blood pressure screenings, stroke risk assessment, dental and vision screenings, mammogram vouchers and other services will be available.

Classes offered at Howard General

At Howard County General Hospital, a member of Johns Hopkins Medicine will offer smoking cessation classes from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. April 1 through April 3 and April 7 through April 9 at the hospital's Wellness Center, suite L-9 of the Columbia Medical Center, 11055 Little Patuxent Parkway, Columbia.

The cost is $60. The class offers support to help smokers quit permanently. It is not necessary to stop smoking before the first class.

A class in anger management, "Strengthening Families by Moving Through Anger," will be offered from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. April 3, 10, 17 and 24 at the Wellness Center. The cost is $30.

"Essentials in Babysitting," a class that includes lunch and a certificate of attendance, will be offered from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 5, and again on April 12. The cost is $46.

"Mastering Time: Make Time Work for You," a free class in managing time, will be held from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. April 10.
