Team officials in attendance as QB Ryan performs at pro day

March 19, 2008|By JAMISON HENSLEY

Three Ravens officials - director of college scouting Eric DeCosta, director of pro personnel George Kokinis and assistant offensive line coach Andy Moeller - attended Boston College's pro day yesterday, which showcased quarterback Matt Ryan.

Dressed in shorts and not facing a defense, Ryan completed 48 of 52 passes. Three of his passes were dropped, and one was overthrown.

Ryan is expected to be the first quarterback taken in next month's NFL draft.

Kansas City coach Herm Edwards, whose Chiefs select fifth in the draft, was among those who watched Ryan work out. The Ravens pick eighth.

Notes -- After making three free-agent signings (linebackers Brendon Ayanbadejo and Nick Greisen and cornerback Frank Walker), the Ravens have $4.34 million in salary cap space. The three highest cap numbers are held by defensive players: cornerback Chris McAlister ($10.9 million) and linebackers Ray Lewis ($9.4 million) and Terrell Suggs ($8 million). ... The Ravens re-signed reserve defensive tackle Amon Gordon. He played in one game last season, making three tackles.
