Mount Hebron wraps up a championship season

Mount Hebron's girls basketball team completed its dream season Saturday with a 55-40 victory over Poly for the Class 2A state championship at UMBC's RAC Arena. The No. 4-ranked Vikings finished 28-0 and earned the program's seventh state title, joining DuVal High School in Prince George's County with the most championships in state tournament history.

Mount Hebron's season featured some close games, including a 47-44 victory over Atholton for the Howard County title; a 47-43 win over River Hill in the regional semifinal; a 39-37 victory over Gwynn Park in the regional final; and a 54-53 win over previously unbeaten Winters Mill in the state semifinals.

In the state championship game, Megan Schaaf had 16 points and 10 rebounds to lead Mount Hebron, which is coached by Scott Robinson, in his 11th season.
