Man arrested in traffic incident
An Annapolis man who refused to pull over for police was arrested after his mirror struck the officer, city police said.
The officers working a crosswalk enforcement detail on Duke of Gloucester Street about 1:30 p.m. Monday saw a white Ford Explorer being driven by Shannon Blair Jr., 21, of Hicks Avenue. One officer familiar with Blair knew that his license was suspended. He motioned for Blair to pull over. Instead, he sped off, striking the officer in the hand with the mirror of the car.
Officers soon found the SUV abandoned in the 400 block of Sixth St. and found Blair at Park and President streets. He was arrested and charged with first-degree assault, fleeing and eluding police, and related offenses.
He is being held at the Jennifer Road Detention Center in lieu of $1 million bond.
