Three teens charged in break-in, threats

Three teenagers have been charged with breaking into a house in Glen Burnie and threatening two occupants with a gun in a dispute over money, Anne Arundel County police said yesterday.

The victims were able to run into the house and lock the door, police said, but the suspects forced the door open and again threatened the occupants with the gun, telling them to hand over any money they had, police said in a statement.

The victims refused, and the teens got away in a red Ford Crown Victoria. Police said they quickly located the car at the home of one of the suspects.

Albert Dankwan Westmoreland, 17, of the 7800 block of Jaki Terrace in Glen Burnie and Kirk Nowlin, 17, of the 7800 block of Southampton Drive, also in Glen Burnie, and an unidentified juvenile were arrested and charged as adults with multiple counts of armed robbery, assault and burglary, police said.

Charles man charged with four robberies

A Charles County man has been charged with four recent armed robberies after a witness saw him speed away from a Hanover convenience store that had just been held up, county police said.

A man wearing dark clothing, gloves and a mask showed up at the Xtra Mart at 1401 Dorsey Road about 9:15 a.m. Friday, pointed a handgun at the clerk and demanded money, and gave her a plastic bag to put it in, police said. After taking an unspecified amount of cash, he drove off in a blue Dodge Durango. A witness described the SUV to police.

Officers soon tried to pull it over and the driver refused. The chase ended when the driver turned down a dead-end street in Prince George's County and ditched the vehicle. He was quickly apprehended.

George Alexander Yates, 27, of Bryans Road was also connected to three other recent robberies: Royal Farms at 7843 Telegraph Road in Severn on March 13, the Sunoco gas station at 1025 Route 3 South in Crofton on Feb. 20 and the Sunoco at 1433 Annapolis Road in Odenton on Feb. 16.

Yates is being held at the Jennifer Road Detention Center on $5 million bond.
