Maryland State Police yesterday fatally shot a man who drew a loaded handgun on a trooper during a traffic stop in Western Maryland, police said.
The man, believed to be a 27-year-old Pennsylvanian wanted on at least three warrants, has not been positively identified, and family members had not been notified as of last night.
About 2:30 p.m., Trooper Christopher Barnard stopped a 1997 Saturn for speeding near Indian Springs in Washington County, state police said. Cpl. Todd Weaver responded as backup, and both troopers approached the car, police said. The man refused to get out, and after Weaver saw him draw a gun, Weaver shot him, police said.
