"If something makes sense for us, we will evaluate it. It's not different than other circumstances."

Notes -- Outfielder Luke Scott and pitcher Garrett Olson signed contracts for 2008. Scott, acquired from the Houston Astros in December in the Miguel Tejada trade, batted .255 with 18 home runs last season. He's projected as the starting left fielder heading into camp. Olson, a left-hander who will compete for the fifth starter's job, made his major league debut in 2007 and went 1-3 with a 7.79 ERA in seven starts. He was 9-7 in 22 starts at Triple-A Norfolk and ranked second in the International League with a 3.16 ERA and eighth with 120 strikeouts. ... Reliever Fernando Cabrera underwent a minor surgical procedure on his right arm over the winter and might be a week to 10 days behind when spring training starts. Pitchers and catchers hold their first workout Thursday. ... The Orioles had discussions about bringing back center fielder Corey Patterson, but it's now unlikely after they acquired Adam Jones from the Mariners.roch.
