Restaurant set to reopen today

February 05, 2008

Ruth's Chris Steak House at Baltimore's Pier 5 is to reopen today after being closed Saturday night because of a carbon monoxide leak.

The leak had forced patrons to evacuate the restaurant and sent 17 people to hospitals. In a statement, Ruth's Chris' managers said the leak came from a cracked heat exchanger in a boiler in the adjacent Pier 5 Hotel that was being fixed yesterday.

Heather Renz, director of marketing for Ruth's Chris, said the restaurant in the 700 block of Eastern Ave. closed after the 8 p.m. Saturday incident. It had been scheduled to be closed Sunday because of the Super Bowl, and it remained closed yesterday because it was without water.
