The store's manager declined to comment. Rite Aid spokeswoman Ashley Flower said the product was a limited seasonal item that is not regularly sold in its stores. "We carried it because our vendor assured us that the item met Baltimore City regulations," she said.

Flower said that the item will not be restocked and that managers at all city Rite Aid stores have been ordered to make sure the beads are not on their shelves.

Untreated sewage spills in Hillsmere

More than 8,000 gallons of untreated sewage spilled yesterday into an Annapolis community, and possibly a local waterway, Anne Arundel County officials said.

They learned about 8:30 a.m. that an 8-inch force main had broken on the 100 block of Mansion Road in Hillsmere, causing the spill. Some of the wastewater may have run into Lake Hillsmere, said county spokesman Matt Diehl. Repairs were finished by 10:45 a.m., and the mess on the affected land was cleaned up.

The county Department of Health has issued an advisory and posted signs warning people to avoid direct water contact until further notice.
