James Davis III was recently named director of community relations and advocacy at St. Agnes HealthCare.

In this position, he will develop strategies and cultivate partnerships to assist St. Agnes with its goals and mission.

Before coming to St. Agnes, Davis was the director of business development for Amerigroup Corp. He also spent about 15 years with the Maryland State Office of the Public Defender and the Maryland Department of Human Resources.

Davis, a Loyola College graduate, also serves on Special Olympics Maryland's board of directors.

Howard County General Hospital has named three new professional staff officers.

They are Dr. Edward J. Lee, president; Dr. Marc Applestein, vice president; and Dr. Jonathan S. Fish, secretary/treasurer.

Lee has been with the hospital for six years and is certified in medical oncology, hematology and internal medicine. He earned his undergraduate degree at Columbia College and medical degree at State University of New York, Downstate. Lee is a partner at Columbia-based Maryland Oncology Hematology, P.A.

Applestein joined the hospital staff 20 years ago. He earned his undergraduate degree at Duke University and his medical degree from the University of Maryland. He also holds a master's in business from the John Hopkins University. Certified by the American Board of Urology, Applestein is also with the Central Maryland Urology Associates, P.A., which has locations in Laurel and Columbia, according to its Web site.

Fish, who joined the hospital in 1997, is an internist with Charter Internal Medicine in Columbia.

His undergraduate degree is from Harvard University, while his medical degree is from Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia. Fish serves on the hospital's Clinical Department Review Committee and has served on the hospital's medical executive committee.
