BOATING BONANZA

Hundreds of boats, personal watercrafts and yachts and 300,000 square feet of exhibits and activity stations are docked at the Baltimore Convention Center today through Sunday as part of the 2008 Baltimore Boat Show. This year's show includes the newly added SailFest, which offers displays of keelboats, catamarans, scows, skiffs, sails and rigging, sailing gear and sailing equipment. The show will also feature an accessories pavilion, a fishing boat section, educational seminars and interactive boating and fishing activities.

The show runs 11 a.m.-9 p.m. today and tomorrow, 10 a.m.-9 p.m. Saturday, and 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Sunday. The convention center is at 1 W. Pratt St. Tickets are $5-$10. Ages 12 and younger are admitted free. Call 410-649-7000 or go to baltimoreboatshow.com.

PET PARADISE

The Maryland State Fairgrounds hosts the World of Pets Expo -- which includes a variety of domestic animals, training products, pet-themed home decor and seminars -- tomorrow, Saturday and Sunday. The event features a cat show, an American Kennel Club Dog Agility Trial, "The Bird Whisperer" Ken Globus, canine stunts, a reptile presentation, a grooming contest and more. Attendees can also show off their pets in the "Parade of Breeds."

EVENT TAKE THE PLUNGE

On Saturday at Sandy Point State Park, watch people run into the ice-cold winter waters of the Chesapeake Bay to raise money for Special Olympics Maryland at the 2008 Maryland State Police Polar Bear Plunge. Two plunges will take place this year, one at noon and the other at 3 p.m. The event will feature "Bunky's Beach Party," a boardwalk-themed festival inside a heated tent that will have a souvenir booth, a kids' corner, games, giveaways and food vendors. The fundraiser will also include the Polar Porker 500, a live pig race; the creation of a 20-ton sand sculpture; live music; a costume contest and more. Orioles Hall of Fame inductee B.J. Surhoff, WBAL-TV's Rob Roblin, retired Baltimore Raven Michael McCrary and members of 98 Rock's morning show team will attend the event; 98 Rock's Josh Spiegel will attempt to break the world record for the number of hugs in one hour by hugging 1,000 people.
