Knight captures win No. 900

Texas Tech beat No. 10 Texas A&M at home, 68-53, last night, Hall of Fame coach Bob Knight's 900th career victory. After the game, fans chanted Knight's name as he walked off the court to a thunderous ovation.

"You folks being here, seats being full for a change, really made a difference tonight," Knight told the crowd.

No. 1 North Carolina 83, Georgia Tech 82 -- Tyler Hansbrough scored 27 points as the visiting Tar Heels (18-0, 3-0 Atlantic Coast Conference) held on against the Yellow Jackets (7-9, 0-3).

No. 2 Memphis 77, Rice 50 -- Chris Douglas-Roberts and Doneal Mack scored 16 points each to lead the Tigers (16-0, 3-0 Conference USA) to a rout of the host Owls (3-13, 0-3).

No. 7 Duke 70, Florida State 57 -- Jon Scheyer scored 21 points and the Blue Devils (14-1, 2-0 Atlantic Coast Conference) beat the host Seminoles, ending a two-game skid to Florida State (12-6, 1-2).

Massachusetts 82, No. 14 Dayton 71 -- Ricky Harris scored 22 points to lead the Minutemen (14-2, 2-1 Atlantic 10) over the host Flyers (14-2, 2-1), ending Dayton's 13-game winning streak.

No. 18 Mississippi 89, Florida 87 -- Dwayne Curtis had 20 points and 12 rebounds, and the Rebels (15-1, 2-1 Southeastern Conference) ended a six-game skid to the visiting Gators (15-3, 2-1).

Temple 78, No. 20 Xavier 59 -- Dionte Christmas scored 19 of his 23 points in the second half to lead the host Owls (7-8, 1-1 Atlantic 10) to a victory over the Musketeers (14-4, 2-1).

No. 25 Villanova 76, DePaul 69 -- Scottie Reynolds scored 21 points and the Wildcats (12-3, 2-2 Big East) used a late 15-0 run to rally over the Blue Demons (7-9, 3-2).

Other ACC

Virginia Tech 70, Virginia 69 -- Deron Washington's driving layup in overtime gave the Hokies (11-6, 2-1) their first road victory against the Cavaliers (10-5, 0-2) since the 1969-70 season.
