Woman killed in Reservoir Hill fire is identified

January 16, 2008

A woman who died Monday night in a fire in Reservoir Hill was identified yesterday as Emma Jetter, 80, a Baltimore Fire Department spokesman said.

A male resident of the home was being treated for smoke inhalation at Maryland Shock Trauma Center. Two other residents, a 10-year-old boy who suffered an asthma attack and his mother, were in a temporary shelter.

The fire, which was reported about 7:35 p.m., damaged the upper floor of the two-story residence in the 2100 block of Mount Royal Terrace. The cause of the single-alarm fire has not been determined, said the spokesman, Chief Kevin Cartwright.

Jetter, who suffered severe burns to her respiratory system and went into cardiac arrest, died at Maryland General Hospital.

The house's occupants had taken in Jetter after her caretaker died, Cartwright said.
