Tired of disjointed mother-daughter shopping sprees, a few years ago Angelina Rivero and her mother, Tina, began wishing for a store that would cater to their particular intergenerational needs. Last November, they made their wish a reality when they opened Simply Divine, a trendy, upscale boutique in the Maple Lawn Shopping Center.

"Our dream was to open a mother-daughter store, so we could both shop, like a one-stop shop," said Tina Rivero, co-owner of the new establishment. The mother-daughter team aimed to create a comfortable, elegant and hip place that would attract a variety of ages with trendy and diverse items. Antique furniture and chandeliers adorn the store, which also has baby-pink walls and leopard-trim curtains.

The inventory ranges from classically sophisticated to funky and cutting-edge. One rack has sweater-shawls that look ready for a night at the symphony. Another holds bright Asian-inspired shirts that look perfect for an indie concert.

One of the owners' main objectives was to make the store warm and inviting for all visitors. They wanted their prices to reflect this goal. "It's good to have a good price range," said Kristin Lyle, the store's manager / buyer. "We want to make it so everyone can afford something." Items range from handbags and dresses to pillboxes and stylish business card holders. Jewelry ranges from $15 to $300. Shirts cost $40 to $200, and handbags run from $60 to $400.
