Concerns on traffic, proposed store

LETTER

January 13, 2008

I have lived in Columbia since 1991. Needless to say, there has been a lot of growth, what with the big box stores, etc.

I now live off of Carved Stone and Snowden River Parkway, and the evening rush hour headed north is a mess. I don't think the public has been satisfied that improvements are going to be made on Snowden to ease the present congestion, let alone with the addition of the proposed Wegmans and another significant development that is proceeding on Minstrel Way.

In addition to the issue of traffic, I am concerned that the Wegmans will negatively affect the village centers of Owen Brown and Kings Contrivance.

I am an avid proponent of the village centers and cannot see a supermarket as large as the proposed Wegmans.
