Shropshire helps Mercy rally past No. 6 McDonogh, 41-38

Led by sophomore guard Carissa Shropshire, Mercy overcame a fourth-quarter deficit to upset No. 6 McDonogh, 41-38, yesterday.

Shropshire came off the bench and scored all 10 of her points in the final quarter.

The visiting Magic (13-2) came back from a seven-point deficit in the final period. Mercy trailed 15-11 at halftime.

Senior forward Jessica Zikorus had 18 rebounds for Mercy.

No. 5 Atholton 57, Oakland Mills 51 -- Elie Snyder had a game-high 31 points to lead the visiting Raiders (9-2) over the Scorpions (6-3). Oakland Mills was without starting guard Gabby Barnes, who was fighting a fever. The second half featured several lead changes before the Raiders went on a 6-0 run late in the fourth quarter to put the game away. Miriam McKenzie had 22 points in the second half to keep Oakland Mills in the game and finished with 30.

Boys

No. 4 Randallstown 66, Parkville 53 -- Alexander Jackson scored eight points in the third quarter to help the Rams (7-2) pull away from the visiting Knights (5-4). Jackson finished with a game-high 19 points.

No. 11 Towson Catholic 47, No. 7 Loyola 41 -- Brandon Greene scored a game-high 19 points as the host Owls (8-7) upset the Dons (9-2). Sal Schittino had 11 points for Loyola.

Marriotts Ridge 55, River Hill 41 -- Freshman guard Nick Doolin's game-high 16 points paced the Mustangs to a victory over the visiting Hawks. The Mustangs connected on five of eight three-point attempts in the second half to take control. At 8-2, Marriotts Ridge has doubled its win total from a season ago.
