Businesswomen to hold meeting

The Maryland Capital Chapter of American Business Women's Association will hold its monthly membership meeting from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Sheraton Barcelo, 173 Jennifer Road, Annapolis.

Featured speaker Adam Santavicca will talk about how small businesses can succeed in today's economy, and Dana Delikat will share a presentation on ways to improve Valentine's Day.

The cost is $35 for members; $45 at the door and for nonmembers.

Chamber to discuss new Maryland laws

The North Anne Arundel Chamber of Commerce will offer a seminar on Maryland laws that went into effect Jan. 1.

The educational brown bag lunch seminar, "Data Protection and Identity Theft: Action Steps for Maryland Businesses," will cover state and federal data protection laws, sanctions if businesses fail to comply, identity theft risks and steps that businesses can take to protect data.

The event will be held at noon Wednesday at the North County Public Library, 1010 Eastway, Glen Burnie.

The event is free. Pre-registration is suggested.

Shoe drive hosted until Feb. 15

Z-CoiL Pain Relief Footwear will host a shoe drive to benefit Soles4Souls Inc.

Customers who bring in new or gently worn shoes will receive a $12 discount on Z-CoiL footwear.

Soles4Souls Inc. is an international footwear charity that delivers shoes to needy people around the world.

Customers can bring donated shoes to the Z-CoiL store at 672 Old Mill Road, Suite O, Millersville. The shoe drive ends Feb. 15.

Tech Council plans January activity

The Anne Arundel Tech Council will hold its President's Reception from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Jan. 17 at BankAnnapolis, 1000 Bestgate Road, Annapolis.

Participants will meet, greet and get plugged in to technology executives from around the region, get an update on what AATC's name change means for tech council members and hear insight on tech trends to watch for in 2008.

The cost is free for members; $20 for nonmembers.

Legislative breakfast planned Jan. 17

The Annapolis and Anne Arundel County Chamber of Commerce Legislative Breakfast will be held from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Jan. 17 at Loews Annapolis Hotel, 126 West. St., Annapolis.

Attendees will meet with elected officials to discuss issues affecting Anne Arundel County.

The cost is $25 paid in advance; $35 at the door.

Insurance advisers' awards event

The Association of Health Insurance Advisors will hold a breakfast at 8 a.m. Jan. 16 at Paul's Homewood Cafe, 919 West St., Annapolis.

The breakfast will include a business meeting and presentation of annual awards.
