Man sentenced in bank holdup

January 05, 2008|By Matthew Dolan

U.S. District Judge Richard D. Bennett sentenced Dwayne Saunders, 24, of Baltimore yesterday to more than 10 years in prison for bank robbery.

Prosecutors say that on July 12, Jackson and an accomplice went into the Wachovia Bank in the 600 block of Eastern Blvd. in Essex.

Wearing masks, they pointed guns at customers to prevent them from leaving and ordered tellers to lie on the floor, the prosecutors said.

They fled in a stolen vehicle but were arrested after a short chase. More than $24,000 was recovered, authorities said.

Daryl Ramon Jackson, the accomplice who also pleaded guilty, faces up to life in prison when he is sentenced Jan. 18.
