Laura H. Boyer, a homemaker and longtime Chestertown resident, died Saturday of heart failure at Chester River Hospital Center. She was 77.

Laura Hogans was born and raised in Rock Hall and graduated in 1946 from Rock Hall High School. She attended Washington College.

In 1952, she married Elroy G. Boyer Sr., now a retired Kent County Circuit Court judge.

The couple lived for many years in Rock Hall before moving to Chestertown in 1980.

During the 1970s and 1980s, Mrs. Boyer worked in real estate sales for Cooper-Barroll Realty in Chestertown.

Mrs. Boyer was an active member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Rock Hall and was a past worthy matron of the Chestertown chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star.

She also was a past president of the Women's Democratic Club and a member of the Chester River Yacht and Country Club.

"Her hobby was caring for her family. She had a great belief in family values and was committed to supporting her husband and children," said a daughter, H. Stacey Boyer of Columbia.

Services are private.

In addition to her husband and daughter, she is survived by two sons, Judge Elroy G. Boyer Jr., chief judge of the Kent County Orphans' Court, and V. Brooke Boyer of Oxford, Pa.; another daughter, Rebecca B. Lawson of Boonsboro; and a brother, Franklin T. Hogans of Rock Hall.
