An article in yesterday's Maryland section misstated the effective date of the state's new vehicle titling tax. The tax increase from 5 percent to 6 percent went into effect Tuesday, not today.

An article that appeared in the early editions of Sunday's newspaper and in Sunday's Harford County section misquoted a documentary filmmaker as to the identity of Abraham Lincoln's vice president at the time of Lincoln's assassination. It was Andrew Johnson.

An article in Saturday's editions on how city prosecutors are not filing hate crime charges against the teenagers accused in the beating of a woman on a city bus misspelled the name of Garland Sanderson, one of the defense attorneys.

The Sun regrets the errors.
