Laurette Hankins has been named associate dean for development and alumni relations at the University of Maryland School of Nursing. In her new role as chief fundraising officer, Hankins is responsible for planning and implementing a development program that includes capital campaigns, major gifts, planned giving and annual gifts.

She also oversees an alumni relations program for the nursing school's 16,000 graduates.

Hankins, who lives in Annapolis, graduated from Duke University. She has 22 years' experience in development.

Dr. Tommy A. Ibrahim, who practices with the Carroll Hospital Center's Family Medical Associates, was hired as a physician at Carroll Lutheran Village.

Ibrahim earned his medical degree in 2004 from St. Christopher's College of Medicine, an affiliate of Cambridge University in Cambridge, England.

He has worked rotations in various hospitals, including John Hopkins.

He was named Intern of the Year in 2004 while doing his internship and residency in internal medicine at the Greater Baltimore Medical Center.

Ibrahim, who also specializes in geriatrics, sees clients at the continuing care retirement community.
