Chaconas, Marina Rois

Marina Rios Chaconas, age 80, died Wednesday, December 19,2007 at her home in Ocean City. Born in Baltimore she was the only child of the late Peter Efstratios and Voula Arniotis Rois. She is survived by a son Aristides Evan Chaconas and his wife Christina Marie and their children Elizabeth Ann and Peter Rois Chaconas of North Carolina and a daughter Angel Chaconas and her husband James Gallagher of Ocean Pines. Marina was a graduate of Eastern High School in Baltimore and received secondary education from both University of Maryland and Johns Hopkins University majoring in languages. As a young woman she enjoyed a fashion and advertising modeling career. She had worked as a Spanish teacher at Hereford High School and also managed a family business in Baltimore. In 1978 she set out upon a new career in real estate with Moore, Warfield and Glick in Ocean City until her retirement in 2006. She was a member of the National Association of Realtors. Marina loved the arts and used them as a means to raise funds for various charities. She was a prolific reader, she loved bridge and traveled extensively. A funeral service will be held on Friday, December 28, 2007 at 11:00 am at St. George Greek Orthodox Church in Ocean City. Friends may call on Thursday, December 27,2007 from 6-8 pm at the Burbage Funeral Home in Berlin.
