GIRLS BASKETBALL

Fallston @ N. Carroll holiday tournament

WHEN -- Wednesday, 10 a.m.; Thursday, TBA

OUTLOOK -- Fallston won this tournament last year, but the Cougars will face a tough, early-season test in the first round of the Paws Division. Jess Harlee and company go up against a Century team that got off to a 5-0 start. The winner of the Fallston-Century game meets the Carver A&T-Notre Dame Prep victor in the division title game on Thursday at 4:30 p.m. The losers meet for a 10 a.m. consolation game.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Bel Air tournament

WHEN -- Thursday and Friday, 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. both days

OUTLOOK -- Bel Air hopes to do a little better at its holiday tournament than it did last year. Soudertown (Pa.), Centennial and Mount Hebron come to the school for the two-day event. Bel Air jumped off to a 4-1 start this season, highlighted by a 79-50 rout of an improved Harford Tech team on Dec. 14.

Intensity Basketball Classic

WHEN -- Friday and Saturday, 6 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., both days

WHERE -- John Carroll

OUTLOOK -- John Carroll is the clear favorite in this tournament, which brings together four local teams. C. Milton Wright, Joppatowne and North Harford all come to the Patriots' gym for a two-round competition. C.M. Wright and Joppatowne meet at 6 p.m. on the first day, followed by a John Carroll-North Harford game 90 minutes later. The best game is likely to be C.M. Wright versus John Carroll, a game that could be a strong early-season battle for both teams.
