Business journalist to speak Jan. 4

The Maryland Bankers Association will host "First Friday," an economic outlook forum, featuring journalist and business forecaster Knight Kiplinger, who will address Maryland's business community.

The forum will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Jan. 4 at the Westin BWI, 1110 Old Elkridge Landing Road, Linthicum.

Registration is $99 and includes a special session and lunch.

Business women hold meeting

The Maryland Capital Chapter of American Business Women's Association will hold its monthly membership meeting from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Jan. 9 at the Sheraton Barcel?, 173 Jennifer Road, Annapolis.

Highlights of the meeting include featured speaker Adam Santavicca's presentation on how small businesses can succeed in today's economy, and Dana Delikat's presentation on ways to improve Valentine's Day.

The cost is $30 for members with reservations by 5 p.m. Jan. 3; $35 after noon Jan. 4 ; $45 at the door and for nonmembers.

Robey steps down as marketing director

Mary Jo Robey will step down as director of marketing for the Annapolis and Anne Arundel County Conference and Visitors Bureau on Friday.

Robey joined the bureau in 1997 as director of visitors' services.

Morton's starting a lunch tradition

Morton's The Steakhouse will serve lunch Thursdays and Fridays at its Annapolis location, 100 Westgate Circle.

The new holiday lunch tradition, "Six Days of Morton's," will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

EMCVenues on `fastest-growing' list

The Women Presidents' Organization and Entrepreneur Magazine announces that EMCVenues has been named number 17 of the Top 50 fastest-growing women-owned/women-led privately owned businesses in the United States and Canada.

Yacht Show director named

United States Yacht Shows Inc. announces that Colin Robertson has been appointed director of marketing for the Yacht Show at National Harbor.

Robertson will promote the Yacht Show and respond to inquiries about the show.

The Yacht Show will be held May 1 through May 4 at the marina facility at National Harbor, Annapolis.

Bello Machre's first nursing graduates

Bello Machre graduated its first specialized certified nursing assistant class on Nov. 12.

Eight Bello Machre employees completed the program.

The graduates are Thomas Coles, Linda Evonko, Vera Hawley, Chikezie Igbokwe, Derek Jivers, Jacqueline Madison, Jessica Ortiz and Amanda Paulley.
