Nebraska-based TierOne Corp. shareholders approved its merger with CapitalSource, a commercial lending, investment and asset management firm based in Chevy Chase.

New business

Bonnie Grady announced the startup of Synergetic Energy Pools Inc., an energy procurement consulting firm based in Westminster. The new company works with members of associations such as chambers of commerce to form commercial energy-buying pools.

On the board

James Dabney Miller of Baltimore and Tom Jasek of Menlo Park, Calif., have been elected to the board of trustees of Maryland Institute College of Art.

Kevin Donnellan, chief communications officer of AARP, has been named to the board of the Insurance Marketplace Standards Association, based in Bethesda.

Openings

GMAC Real Estate/Real Estate Service Center announced the opening of its Largo office under the direction of Nick D'Ambrosia, Ann D'Ambrosia and Dale Ross.

Organizations

The Maryland Society of Anesthesiologists elected Dr. Harold Goll as its president. The Lutherville resident is the head of the anesthesiology department of Greater Baltimore Medical Center.

Elizabeth Blakeslee of Coldwell Banker has been named vice president of Region III of the National Association of Realtors.

Relocation

PEAK Technologies Inc. is moving its headquarters operations to 10330 Old Columbia Road in Columbia.
