Ravens Weekend

December 14, 2007|By MIKE PRESTON

JONATHAN OGDEN RAVENS OT HT: 6-9 WT: 345 YEAR: 12

JASON TAYLOR DOLPHINS DE HT: 6-6 WT: 255 YEAR: 11

Taylor is one of several playmakers on Miami's defense. He isn't exceptionally big but is extremely quick. He also uses his hands well. He has a nonstop motor and will run ball carriers down from the other side of the field. Taylor, who has eight sacks this season, can rush from the left side as well. Ogden has improved his conditioning. He'll have no problems against Taylor when the Ravens run, but he'll struggle with Taylor's speed on outside pass rushes. EDGE: EVEN

GARY STILLS RAVENS LB HT: 6-2 WT: 250 YEAR: 9

TED GINN JR. DOLPHINS WR HT: 5-11 WT: 178 YEAR: R

If the Dolphins are to have any chance of winning, they'll have to get big plays from their special teams. Ginn, a return specialist, is extremely explosive and is averaging 23.6 yards on kickoff returns and 10.1 on punt returns. The rookie has scored on an 87-yard punt return and has returned a kickoff 52 yards. Stills is the best tackler on the Ravens' special teams. He has a nose for the ball and usually gets to the point of attack before a wedge is set up. Teams don't usually double-team Stills, but that might happen against the Dolphins. EDGE: EVEN

HALOTI NGATA RAVENS DT HT: 6-4 WT: 340 YEAR: 2

REX HADNOT DOLPHINS G HT: 6-2 WT: 325 YEAR: 4

Hadnot is a tough, rough right guard. He has been the Dolphins' most consistent offensive lineman. He is vocal, very good at communicating and never gives up on a play. He is a better run blocker than pass blocker. Ngata has been the Ravens' best defensive player in 2007. He is explosive and a force in the middle. He deserves a Pro Bowl spot. If the Dolphins want to run the ball, it will have to be off the outside shoulders of the tackles. Ngata will dominate inside. EDGE: NGATA
