Santa and missus to visit Elkridge

Santa and Mrs. Claus will visit Elkridge on a fire engine from Thursday through Dec. 17, weather permitting.

When neighbors hear "Jingle Bells" played on the air horn of the engine, they're invited to gather at the nearest street corner to meet and visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus. The fire department will collect canned food for the needy and wrapped gifts, which should be marked with the words "boy" or "girl" and the appropriate age.

The Elkridge Volunteer Fire Department is sponsoring its 17th annual Christmas holiday food drive and is seeking donations, which are tax deductible. Checks should be made payable to the Elkridge Volunteer Fire Department, in care of the Christmas Food Drive.

Donations can be brought to the fire station (6275 Old Washington Road) or given to Santa when he visits neighborhoods.

Canned sweet potatoes, sauerkraut, vegetables, gravy and cranberry sauce, turkeys, hams, desserts, butter and margarine, juices, stuffing and other boxed nonperishable items are accepted.
