GEORGE D. SPICER, Jr., of Ellicott City died peacefully in his sleep early Thursday, December 6, 2007. He was 92. He was born George Dukehart Spicer, Jr., on May 20, 1915, in Baltimore to the late George D. Sr., and Rosalee Martin Spicer. On December 30, 1939, he married Anne Cecilia Harrison who preceded him in death earlier this year. He is survived by two daughters, Mary Beth Balog and her husband, Bernie, Susan S. Ensor and her husband Harry; one son, George D. Spicer, III, and his wife, Kathy, twelve grandchildren, Phillips Peters, III, David Peters, Suzanne Holloway, Jeannette Smith, Joseph Peters, Deborah Payne, Michael Balog, Melissa Shields, Sarah Pearce, George D. Spicer, IV, Laura Spicer and James Spicer, 18 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter. A daughter, Carol Anne Groner also preceded him in death. The family will receive friends from 1 to 3 and 5 to 7 P.M., Sunday, December 9 at HARRY H. WITZKE'S FAMILY FUNERAL HOME INC., 4112 Old Columbia Pike, Ellicott City. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 A.M., Monday, December 10 at Church of the Resurrection, 3175 Paulskirk Drive, Ellicott City. Interment will follow at St. Johns Cemetery at Frederick Road and St. Johns Lane in Ellicott City. Donations can be made in Mr. Spicer's name to the Order of the Alhambra Cadiz Caravan, 10815 Stang Road, Owings Mills, MD, 21117 or to the Patapsco Council of the Knights of Columbus, Frederick and Beaumont Avenue, Catonsville, MD, 21228.
