Adams lifts Morgan over American, 80-65

Corin Adams scored 16 points to lead four players in double figures, and Morgan State beat American, 80-65, last night.

The Eagles (5-4) led 39-31 at the half before the Lady Bears (4-2) outscored them 49-26 in the second half.

Omega Boddie's layup gave Morgan State a 57-55 lead with 10:21 left, and the Lady Bears never trailed again.

Liz Hayes and freshman Liz Leer had 19 and 18 points, respectively, for American. Hayes had five three-pointers.

It was the third consecutive victory for Morgan State and the end of American's three-game winning streak.

Brittany Dodson, Theresa Davis and Britney Griffin scored 10 points each for the Lady Bears.

Southern Methodist 71, Coppin State 68 -- Katy Cobb scored 14 points and made a go-ahead three-pointer with 1:33 remaining as the host Mustangs (7-1) earned their seventh straight win. Rashida Suber scored 24 points for the Eagles (4-6).

UMES 65, Delaware 53 -- Casey Morton had 14 points to lead the visiting Hawks (4-3) over the Blue Hens (1-7). Delaware's Corinthia Benison scored a game-high 15 points. The Blue Hens led 50-49 with 7:57 left, but the Hawks used a 16-3 run to pull away.

Bowie State 79, Allen 45 -- Denita Hill and Bianca Lee scored 14 points each to power the visiting Lady Bulldogs (5-0) over the Lady Yellow Jackets (0-9). Bowie State shot 56.8 percent from the field in the first half and led 50-21 at intermission.

Hood 73, Gallaudet 71 -- Jen Willison and Allyson Lethbridge combined to score 41 points and lift the Blazers (1-7) over the Bison (1-7).
