The junior distance runner had an outstanding season last winter and spring and ran even better in cross country this fall before slipping to third in the Class 2A state finals.

A good middle-distance runner, the senior can score in relays and individual events.

Anthony Drumsgoole

Drumsgoole, a junior, is rapidly improving as a sprinter, especially after a strong Amateur Athletic Union season this summer, when he finished sixth in the nation in the 200.

The sophomore can help the Eagles score points in the long and triple jumps.

The senior has developed into a solid distance runner, helping the Eagles to become one of the area's top teams.

Justin Murdock


Murdock moved over to Meade from Glen Burnie after a spectacular junior year. He had the nation's fastest time indoors in the 55 meters (6.21 seconds) last winter.

Duane Parker

Mount St. Joseph

The junior can do so many things (300 meters, long jump, triple jump, relays) and is a big reason the Gaels easily won the Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association championship last winter.

Anthony Rowe

Calvert Hall

A senior, Rowe anchored the Cardinals' MIAA A Conference championship team in cross country this fall and is one of the area's most consistent distance runners.

Zach Sullivan

Archbishop Spalding

Sullivan, a junior, has become a strong distance runner, capping a standout cross country season by winning the MIAA A Conference championship.

Joey Thompson


The junior is on his way to becoming one of the state's top distance runners, helping the Lions win the Class 2A state title outdoors and capturing the state crown in cross country this fall - in his first season running the sport.
