All-Metro first-team players returning - Seton Keough's Asya Bussie, McDonogh's Becky Cox, St. Frances' Kandice Green, Dulaney's Danielle Parker and Western's Akeema Richards.


Interscholastic Athletic Association of Maryland A Conference championships for St. Frances in seven years, including the past five.


Area teams that qualified for the state tournament last season. Atholton won the 2A title; Western and Southern were runners-up; and Old Mill, Fallston, Poly and New Town reached the semifinals.


Years since metro-area teams swept all four state girls basketball championships. Old Mill, South River, Mount Hebron and Brooklyn Park took the titles in 1986 - the only time in 35 years of the state tournament that local teams have managed a sweep.


Career wins for Southern coach Linda Kilpatrick, whose team reached the state Class 2A final last season for the first time in 10 years. Kilpatrick has six state titles in her 30 years as Bulldogs head coach.
