Man tries to rob Glen Burnie couple

A couple in Glen Burnie reported an attempted armed robbery at 11:32 p.m. Thursday, Anne Arundel police said.

The victims told police that they parked their vehicle in front of a residence in the 400 block of Ellwell Court and were about to get out when a man armed with a handgun approached them.

The man leaned into the vehicle and pointed the handgun at the female passenger and demanded money. The male driver then reached over and pushed the suspect's gun away from the female and drove off, police said.

The couple called 911 and returned to the residence to wait for the police where they spotted the man again approaching their vehicle with a gun in hand, police said. The suspect grabbed the driver's door handle, but the couple sped off again. The suspect then fled on foot toward Elvaton Road.

Man hits woman, steals purse, money

A woman in Glen Burnie reported that she was assaulted and robbed of an undetermined amount of money at 7:54 p.m. Thursday, Anne Arundel County police said.

The victim told police that after parking her vehicle near East Thompson Avenue and Furnace Branch Road East, a man approached her and demanded money.

The robber reached inside the victim's vehicle and attempted to grab her purse, but the woman held onto it and was assaulted, police said. The man struck the woman in the face until the purse strap broke, and he ran away with the purse and an undetermined amount of cash.

Police said the robber was last seen fleeing on foot.

The victim was not seriously injured and refused medical treatment.

Man arrested on drug charges

Police arrested a Severna Park man on drug charges and seized about $730 in marijuana from his car Wednesday, Anne Arundel County police said.

Matthew William Daley, 23, of the 600 block of Tewkesbury Lane was in the parking lot of 479 Jumpers Hole Road about 5:40 p.m. Wednesday when he drew officers' attention. They saw marijuana on the center console of his 3001 Ford Explorer, and took about 30 individual packages of marijuana from a hidden compartment, along with a digital scale and smoking device.

He was charged with possession of marijuana, possession of paraphernalia and possession with intent to distribute.

Two houses robbed in Annapolis

An Annapolis man reported Monday that his Hanover Street home was burglarized last week, and that $1,100 in power drills and saws were stolen.

That same day, a resident of the 800 block of Chesapeake Ave. reported that someone had taken more than $2,000 of household items, including a laptop, from his home between 9 a.m. and 8 p.m.

Man, 30, stabbed at housing complex

A 30-year-old Columbia man was stabbed in the chest in the Newtowne Twenty public housing community Tuesday, Annapolis police said.

He refused to divulge any details about how he had been hurt, but a cousin, who had driven him to the neighborhood for unspecified reasons, said the victim opened the screen door of a home in the community. He did not go inside, but came back a few moments later with the wound. The cousin drove him to the hospital.
