Body found in park is identified

November 24, 2007|By Josh Mitchell

Police have identified the body of a man found Thanksgiving Day in Gunpowder Falls State Park as 38-year-old David Alan Heller of Northeast Baltimore.

Investigators believe Heller committed suicide, said Bill Toohey, a Baltimore County police spokesman.

Heller, who lived by himself in an apartment in the 4300 block of Lasalle Ave., was last seen Oct. 23 and reported missing Nov. 18, Toohey said.

About noon Thursday, a father walking with his two young sons found Heller's body partly covered by a plastic sheet in the woods off Belair Road, about a mile north of Forge Road.

Heller's car, an old Chevrolet hatchback, was parked across Belair Road, Toohey said.

It was not known how long the body had been there. Police were awaiting autopsy results.
