Turnovers caused by the No. 1 River Hill football team in its 34-0 win over McDonough of Charles County in Friday's Class 2A South regional semifinal game. The Hawks (11-0) had five interceptions and two fumble recoveries. Michael Campanaro had two interceptions and a fumble recovery, and Ryan Griffin also picked off two passes.


Combined state championships won by the River Hill boys and girls soccer teams, which both captured titles Saturday. The boys have claimed eight championships, while the girls have won six. It is the third time the two teams have won championships during the same season, and at least one has won a title in each season dating to 1997.


State volleyball titles won by Howard County schools since the tournament began in 1971. Top-ranked Reservoir (20-0) became the sixth county school to claim a championship with its three-game sweep of Huntingtown in Saturday's Class 3A title match. Centennial has captured 13 titles; Glenelg and Mount Hebron four each; Atholton has won two; and the Gators joined Howard with one crown.
