In march to retirement, will Carr fall out of step?

The Kickoff

Michigan football coach Lloyd Carr has announced his retirement.

No truth to the rumor that Ohio State has invited him to its next home game to dot the "i."

Joe Torre completed his coaching staff with the Dodgers by retaining pitching coach Rick Honeycutt and first base coach Mariano Duncan. But former Orioles manager Lee Mazzilli turned down Torre's offer, in case you hadn't heard.

Mazzilli, who's the lead studio analyst for SportsNet New York, recently lost his father. And his mother, who lives in Connecticut, is suffering from Alzheimer's disease.

"It is one of those years where I think staying home is a good thing," Mazzilli said.
