Woman, 56, robbed of purse, police say

A 56-year-year old Annapolis woman was the victim of a purse snatching, city police said.

The woman, who lives in the 200 block of Woodlawn Ave., was walking up to her house after a trip to a nearby store about 7:50 p.m. Nov. 9 when a man approached her from behind, bumped into her, took her purse and ran away.

Cable equipment stolen from facility

Someone broke into a cable company's storage shelter and stole nearly $40,000 worth of cable-laying tools and equipment, Annapolis police said.

An employee of the company estimated Tuesday that the trailer in the 1500 block of Forest Drive had been burglarized over the weekend.

Two liquor stores robbed in 2 days

Two city liquor stores were robbed within two days this week, and Annapolis police said the crimes might be linked.

The owner of Lighthouse Wine & Spirits at 2012 West St. reported Tuesday that the store had been burglarized sometime overnight. A rear door had been pried open. Once inside, the burglar broke into an ATM and a safe and took a "substantial" amount of cash, police said.

Annapolis Wine & Spirits at 1307 Forest Drive was broken into late Sunday or early Monday, and the circumstances of both cases are similar, police said.

Boy, 12, charged with BB gun assault

A 12-year-old boy was charged with assault after he shot an Annapolis girl, 14, in the knee with a BB gun, Anne Arundel County police said.

The girl was shot outside her home on Brooke Court about 2:30 p.m. Tuesday but was not injured. The suspect, who also lives in the neighborhood, said he had aimed the gun at a sheet of paper on the ground, and the BB must have ricocheted.

BB guns are illegal in Annapolis, except under limited and controlled circumstances. Youths may not possess or use them unless under adult supervision.
