Indie concert

The lowdown -- Hear the local Baltimore-based indie/folk-rock band Monarch, as well as the Irish indie pop electronica duo Oppenheimer, perform Monday at the Lo-Fi Social Club.

Get your Kix at Ottobar

The lowdown -- Get ready to dance at the Ottobar's hair-metal/rock- dance party Saturday. Funny Money, a local rock band that plays a mixture of covers from the popular 1980s glam-metal band Kix, as well as its own original music, will perform. Original Kix vocalist Steve Whiteman and drummer Jimmy Chalfant will be featured.

Soul music plus house

The lowdown -- Tortured Soul, a three-piece band that describes its style of music as soulful house music, will perform Saturday at Mosaic Lounge. This Brooklyn, N.Y.-based band, known for wearing signature white shirts and black ties at performances, combines jazz, funk and soul with drums, vintage keys, electric bass and vocals.
