Veterans can claim free meal

McCormick & Schmick's Seafood Restaurant will salute U.S. military veterans during its annual Veterans Appreciation Event.

U.S. military veterans will receive a free entree at both the Baltimore and Annapolis restaurants today.

The Baltimore restaurant is at 711 Eastern Ave. The Annapolis restaurant is in Westfield Annapolis mall.

McCormick & Schmick's Veterans Appreciation Event started in 1999.

RiverWest plans marketing seminar

RiverWest Marketing, 647 Ridgely Ave., Annapolis, will hold a free seminar, "Measuring Your Marketing Return: Mystery Solved," from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Thursday.

The seminar will provide information on measuring a successful marketing campaign.

Luncheon honors area philanthropists

Fred Graul, Anna Greenberg and Megan Skiles will be honored at the annual Anne Arundel County Celebration of Philanthropy lunch at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Sheraton Annapolis Hotel, 173 Jennifer Road, Annapolis.

Graul, a community supporter and activist, will receive the "Philanthropist of the Year" Award.

Greenberg, a volunteer for 40 years, will receive the "Volunteer of the Year" Award.

Skiles, an 11-year-old nominated by the SPCA of Anne Arundel County, will receive the "Young Philanthropist of the Year" Award.

Staff, volunteers, board members and philanthropists from county nonprofits are invited. Tickets are $50 each. Reservations are required by tomorrow.

Company holds groundbreaking

Opportunity Builders Inc. will host a groundbreaking ceremony at its new building at 1 p.m. Friday at 8855 Veterans Highway, Millersville.

OBI purchased the 14.5 acres of land as the first step in reaching its goal of owning its own facility.

Glen Burnie mall holds holiday events

The Centre at Glen Burnie has announced its 2007 holiday events and promotions.

Breakfast with Santa and his holiday friends at 9 a.m. Saturday sponsored by Chick-fil-A. Guests should make reservations and are asked to bring a nonperishable food item.

Visit with Santa on Saturday through Dec. 24. Hours are Monday through Thursday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., Friday and Saturday from noon to 8 p.m., and Sunday from noon to 5 p.m. Pet photos with Santa will be held on Dec. 13 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Toys for Tots: U.S. Marines and WPOC radio will host the One New Toy drive from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Dec. 7. Guests should bring an unwrapped, new toy to be donated to deserving children.

Cookies and crafts with Santa to make reindeer ornaments and enjoy cookies and juice with Santa at noon Dec. 8. Guests should make reservations and are asked to bring a nonperishable food item.

Former law clerk joins Annapolis firm

Kenneth W. Courter Jr. joins the Annapolis law firm of Hyatt & Weber PA's transactional practice group.

Courter served as judicial law clerk to Anne Arundel County Circuit Court Judge Paul F. Harris Jr. Courter is a member of the Maryland State Bar Association and the Virginia State Bar.

Health care job fair at AACC Nov. 12

Anne Arundel Community College will host a health care job fair from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. tomorrow in Room 100 at the Student Union building, 101 College Parkway, Arnold.

More than 30 employers will attend. Participants should bring resumes and be prepared for interviews.

Mixer set for women in construction

Associated Builders and Contractors Chesapeake, Baltimore and National Association of Minority Contractors, D.C., chapters will host a diversity mixer for female construction owners, suppliers, engineers, architects and other service-related industries.

The mixer, Women in Construction: Growing Together, will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday at BWI Marriott, 1743 W. Nursery Road, Linthicum.

The cost is $15 for members, $20 for nonmembers.

BWI business group to hold breakfast

The BWI Business Partnership will hold its monthly signature breakfast meeting from 7:45 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Thursday at the BWI Marriott, 1743 W. Nursery Road, Linthicum.

The guest speaker will be Robert Fornaro, president of AirTran Airways. Reservations are required by Tuesday.
