Baltimore police yesterday released the name of a 6-year-old child who died in a single-car crash in Northeast Baltimore on Monday and said the incident remained under investigation.

Victoria O. Thomson-Soforowa, 29, was driving north in the 6000 block of Hillen Road with two young children in the car's back seat about 2:40 p.m., police said. She lost control of her 1993 Infiniti, struck a curb and then veered across the road and crashed into a tree, police said.

One of the children, Falarin Thomson-Soforowa, suffered severe head and internal injuries. He was taken to Johns Hopkins Hospital, where he was pronounced dead about an hour after the crash.

The other child in the back seat, an 8-year-old, suffered a fractured leg, while Thomson-Soforowa, a Northeast Baltimore resident, suffered cuts to her mouth, a police spokeswoman said.

Police did not say how the children were related to the driver.

The department's accident investigation unit is reviewing the incident.
