Agriculture post for Zimmerman

L.J. Zimmerman has been named agricultural marketing specialist by the Howard County Economic Development Authority.

She will work to increase awareness of the importance of continual development of the agricultural industry in Howard County.

Zimmerman worked with the Gettysburg Area School District as an Adult Young Farmer adviser for eight years and as a crop insurance adjuster for ASI Crop Insurance, covering south-central Pennsylvania and parts of Maryland.

She is a member of the National Young Farmer Educational Association, the National Association of Agricultural Educators and the National Holstein Association. She is also a member of the Montgomery County Agricultural Center, which sponsors the Montgomery County Agricultural Fair in Gaithersburg.

After growing up on a Montgomery County dairy farm, Zimmerman received a bachelor's degree in dairy science from Delaware Valley College.

Glaser named tech award finalist

Tom Glaser, vice president of information technology at Howard Community College, has been named a finalist for the Tech Council of Maryland/Tech Alliance Division CIO-CTO Live! Awards.

Glaser, a founding member and president of a professional technology organization, designed the network infrastructure for three new HCC building projects: The Mary Ellen Duncan Hall of English, Languages & Business, the Peter and Elizabeth Horowitz Visual and Performing Arts Center and the Rouse Company Foundation Student Services Hall.

Finalists will be honored and the winners announced today during an awards dinner at the Bethesda North Marriott Hotel and Conference Center.
