Jockey Mario Pino went 0-for-5 yesterday at Laurel Park and remains two wins away from becoming only the 15th rider to reach 6,000.

"On paper, it didn't look like any of the horses I rode should have won," Pino said. "But I was really hoping to get lucky on a horse or two. It does happen. But they ran true to form today."

He will now try to reach 6,000 at Delaware Park tomorrow or Sunday. Pino has nine mounts over the two days, but said they are much like the horses he rode here yesterday.

"I am not that strong there this weekend," the Ellicott City resident said. "I might only win one or maybe none. One would be ideal, so I could come back here next week and get it done."
