The lowdown -- Between the Numbers premieres at the Creative Alliance tomorrow, pairing contemporary dance with original music. Expressed through dance, local choreographers Sonia Synkowski and Stacey Tytler show how life's ups and downs differ among ages and eras.

`Much Ado'

The lowdown -- William Shakespeare's Much Ado About Nothing, directed by Vincent M. Lancisi, comes to Everyman Theatre on Wednesday. Regarded as the template for the modern romantic comedy, it tells the story of a prank among friends that evolves into heartbreak and a battle between sexes.

Sound music

The lowdown -- If you want to define music in the barest terms, you can't go wrong with "organized sound," which is the title of a provocative program Sunday at the Peabody Institute. This all-contemporary event brings together top-notch organist Donald Sutherland and colleagues in such works as Juliet: Five Songs from Shakespeare for soprano, violin, organ.
