Goals scored by River Hill junior Brittany Yancey and Centennial senior Alyssa Vorce in last week's Howard County girls soccer championship game, which was won by the Hawks, 4-3. Yancey scored twice to give the Hawks a 2-0 halftime lead, before Vorce scored three straight times in the second half to give the Eagles a 3-2 lead. After Yancey tied the game with her third goal, teammate Erica Suter scored to give the Hawks their second straight title.


Winning time for Howard cross country runner Joey Thompson in Thursday's Howard County cross country championships. Thompson easily defeated runner-up Graham Bazell of Atholton (16:54.66). Bazell had defeated Thompson in their three previous meetings this season.


Consecutive points the Howard football team scored in the second half of its 21-14 victory over visiting Wilde Lake on Saturday. Trailing 14-0 at the half, senior quarterback Jeff Kalski threw two touchdown passes before running back Diontae Jones ran 3 yards for the clinching score in the fourth quarter. The Lions improved to 7-1, while Wilde Lake fell to 6-2.
