Sister Catherine Stephen Moyer, 86

Sister Catherine Stephen Moyer, a retired parochial school teacher, died of Alzheimer's disease complications Friday at her order's retirement home in Aston, Pa. She was 86.

Born Elizabeth Anna Moyer in Lebanon, Pa., she entered the Sisters of St. Francis of Philadelphia in 1948. She took the name Catherine Stephen and earned a bachelor's degree at Mount St. Mary University in Emmitsburg.

Sister Catherine Stephen was an elementary school teacher at Immaculate Conception School in Towson and at St. Clement Mary Hofbauer parochial school in Rosedale. Most recently she was a tutor at St. Anthony of Padua School in Gardenville.

She also taught in Silver Spring, Wilmington and Newark, Del., and in Philadelphia's Germantown neighborhood.

A Mass of Christian burial will be offered at 11 a.m. tomorrow at Assisi House, 600 Red Hill Road in Aston.

Survivors include two sisters, Barbara Yetter of Bowie and Catherine Allwein of Fayetteville, Pa.; and many nieces and nephews.
